I am a Chinese native. I visited Beijing several times and walked / climbed the wall in different sections. I would likeI would like to share with you my experience of the Great Wall.
History of the Great Wall of China

If you have time and if you are fit enough, I would say you should visit them all. Otherwise, choose a favorite section and experience of life.
Great Wall of China - Badaling
Badaling Great Wall has undergone a major restoration. Some people even find it "old new".
At Badaling, you can see homeTravelers with business attire and ladies in skirts and high heels. I really had no idea how to manage on foot. But this is a sign that Badaling is for everyone. After the walk, please consider a cable car to return.
Badaling Great Wall has the largest population of souvenir sellers. They are, after all. You should consider purchasing a certificate in memory of the great wall tour.

Great Wall of China - Juyongguan

Great Wall of China - Mutianyu
Great Wall at Mutianyu Tourcould be the top pick among all sections of the Great Wall in Beijing. And 'well renovated, near Beijing, not too crowded and not too challenging hiking and climbing. The surrounding landscape is beautiful year.

Great Wall of China -Simatai
This section of the Great Wall is the most original, most peaceful and quiet, the most dangerous and spectacular famous.
Since Simatai is in its original condition without restoration, you must be very careful because there are many loose rocks and debris. However, if you want to see the original intact wall of 500 years (Ming Dynasty), is the right place.
There are 16 watchtowers along the Simatai section of the Great Wall. Few people make it 12 Checkthem. But the real challenge is between 13 and 16. With 80 plants degree, is the most dangerous part of the Great Wall. It might be scary to look back if you try. I would say that only the hardcore trekking can scale from 16.

2. A mask (dust storm could be in the spring)
3. A towel in the summer (with a paper towel and tissue will not work)
4. A small folding fan in summer
5. Rich moisturizing cream in winter
6. A camera with lots of film or memory cards
7. Loose clothing and comfortable shoes
8. A lot of water
9. Toilet paper
10. A mini first aid kit (just to Simatai)
11. Go in the earlymorning to avoid the heavy traffic
